A Quick Update For The Start Of November

Here comes November and the cold weather ~ it seems like Autumn has vanished!  But the dogs don’t mind whatever the day throws at them, here’s what we’ve been up to…

Over the last couple of weeks we have been ranging the dogs out over rough ground, in water and over a lot greater distances.  We have been practising on direction and blinds.  All of the dogs are working well & really enjoying themselves.  We have been doing a lot of stop work with them & I am pleased to say they are brilliant at it.

Beneldys are also in the process of moving house ~ the dogs are excited because they can sense something is going on with all the boxes coming and going.  We hope it won’t distress Nellie too much who we hope is in pup, but she’s a sensible lass and it shouldn’t phase her at all.

We are really looking forwards to moving, it will give the dogs lots more space to run around and we will be able to some more training at home too.

Well that’s all for now, got to go!  We’ll keep you posted with our news very soon.

October Update ~ We’ve been up to a lot!

IMG_8334Daisy is now back training, in the peak of good health & fit as a lop! She is training with 3 of her pups, showing them how to do the job & they are all loving every moment. She has taken part in a few scurries at Game Fairs and been extremely fast, keen & straight onto the dummy. She is continuing her training and will be competing in some working tests shortly.

Ben is also going to be entered into some working tests soon, he is busy doing demonstrations with Daisy, Kim, & Aycer at the moment. Ben loves his work, he is more methodical than Daisy and is a thinker, he’s very good at working things out. He never misses a retrieve.
Purdy is a very fast, brave, girl with loads of character; she is smaller than the others so she can get through anything. She is the sort of dog that goes “till the cows come home”. Purdy just loves being a gun dog!

IMG_8870Kim has been furthering her training & is coming on wonderfully well. She is a natural and water is her favourite, she is totally fearless. Kim is a devoted dog, she never takes her eyes of me when training & she never misses a trick. She is one of a kind, a pleasure to own, is our little Kim.

Aycer, she is a little gem! From the start of her training she has been incredibly talented, she still makes few mistakes but it is like she was born to be trained. She is Ben’s half sister & so like him; a thinker, you can see them sat together working things out. Aycer is a steady methodical worker, just like Ben in this respect too, she loves her work with a passion.

IMG_8207Teal has been very busy. She has been gundog training, towards her show working certificate, and is a dream to train. Pheasant is her favourite game to retrieve. We are at shows with Teal most weekends. Teal gained her 3rd BEST OF BREED last week & has also qualified for Crufts again, that makes 4 times for next year’s show! We try to get out training with all the dogs at least 4-5 times a week. We take 2-3 at a time, so they can work either alone or with each other.

Nell, we very much hope is 2 weeks in puppy to sh.ch. LINDALL REDEMPTION, he is also Hettie’s sire.  Nell is still going to be carrying on as normal till she naturally slows down, she is fit & healthy & looks the picture of good health. Although she is a show dog, Nell loves obedience work and she also loves the dummy. Nell’s due date is 10th December so watch this space...

IMG_9251Hettie is 5 months old now, her first show is end of November. She is a wonderful puppy, sensible, calm, obedient & clever. You name it she is it! She is so easy to train because she listens so carefully, we hope she does as well as Teal has done.

Well that’s all for now, we just keep training & showing. Take care.

Beneldys Latest News

Sorry it has been so long since the last blog....

Over the last several weeks the dogs have kept us extremely busy. We have attended many shows with Teal - our show dog KC name Devon Elite Just One Look of Beneldys. She has been doing consistantly well in the show ring at open and championship level - being highly placed many times and winning her third Best of Breed and Best puppy.

We have also qualified for Crufts again next year, and she is only 11 months old.

On the working side of things we have been training hard, we hope to be entering some tests later on this year.

On the breeding side we have a litter due April 4th - sire Wylanbriar As Time Goes By At Millerdan - call name Jake. Dam Beneldys Jezabel Jet, call name Daisy. She is looking really good and well, her coat is gleaming and she is in the peak of good health, she is still enjoying a bit of training, which is keeping her toned and fit. Both sire and dam are extensively health screened and have extremely low hip scores, both have 0/0 elbows, current clear eye certificates, both are Optigen tested 'clear' for GPRA, and both are 'clear' for CNM  - and Dam is also tested 'clear' for RD/OSD and NARCOLEPSY - so puppies will be quite a special litter. For more information of the Dam - please see Our Dogs page and go into the Daisy page http://beneldyslabradors.web.officelive.com/Daisy.aspx - and for more information on the Sire - please go to Millerdan website and go to the Our Boys page http://www.millerdan.net/jake.html.

Anyone interested puppy list orders are now been taken. Daisy is a very keen methodical working dog, she is extremely fast, has a very strong hunting instinct, a good nose and unbelievable stamina, she lives for her work and thoroughly enjoys it. She is a very sweet natured dog, loving and loyal with impeccable manners.

The young dogs are coming on a treat, their training is going exceptionally well, they are a pleasure to own and train, as they all are.

This year we will be attending many more shows and game fairs, the working ones love the scurries, and some working tests. So it promises to be a very busy pleasurable year for us all, and we are really looking forward to it all.

We will keep you all posted. Bye for now. Everybody take care and enjoy your dogs.
